Olatunji Matthew KOLAWOLE is a Professor of Virology in the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Ilorin, with over 18 years of teaching, research, community services, and administrative experience. He is a Visiting Professor and IAS Fellow at the University of Warwick, Coventry, United Kingdom. As a Consultant Virologist to WHO, the Pioneer National Coordinator on Poliovirus laboratory containment, and a member of the Ministerial Expert Advisory Committee on COVID-19-Health Sector Response, he has coordinated national and international programs on infectious diseases eradication in Nigeria and the African continent. He served as Head, Department of Microbiology; Pioneer Director, Institute of Molecular Science and Biotechnology, and the Managing Editor, Nigerian Journal of Pure and Applied Sciences, University of Ilorin.
He has over 260 published articles in peer-reviewed national and international journals, conference proceedings, papers, and chapters in books. He has graduated 11-Ph.Ds., 46-M.Sc., and 236-B.Sc. students with ongoing undergraduate/postgraduate supervision. Professor Kolawole is a recipient of multi-million-dollar research grants at national and international levels and is a member of many reputable and prestigious professional bodies.
